League One review: Walsall thrash Blackpool

Walsall moved to the top of Sky Bet League One after thrashing Blackpool 4-0, while Sheffield United and Burton were also victorious.

Romaine Sawyers gave the unbeaten Saddlers the lead after 25 minutes and it got worse for rock-bottom Blackpool as Tom Aldred put through his own goal at the start of the second period.

Sawyers rounded off the scoring after Sam Mantom's header to ensure Walsall took full advantage of Gillingham's 1-1 draw at Peterborough.

Adedeji Oshilaja's 85th-minute header appeared to have won it for the Gills but Jon Taylor's last-gasp strike earned Posh a share of the spoils.

Gillingham are down to fourth after wins for Sheffield United and Burton. Neill Collins and Billy Sharp struck in five second-half minutes to give the Blades a 2-0 victory at previously unbeaten Swindon, while Mark Duffy's last-minute close-range effort settled the Brewers' clash with Shrewsbury.

Rochdale moved into the play-off places after beating Barnsley 3-0 courtesy of goals from Calvin Andrew, Peter Vincenti and Ian Henderson, and Chesterfield did likewise after goals in either half from Jay O'Shea gave them a 2-0 success at Millwall.

An early Michael Jacobs goal gave Wigan a 1-0 win against Crewe, while Doncaster beat Fleetwood 2-0 to claim their first win of the season, James Coppinger and Curtis Main with the goals for Paul Dickov's men.

Colchester came from behind to draw 2-2 with Scunthorpe, with George Moncur and George Elokobi cancelling out early goals from Kevin van Veen and Paddy Madden.

Tom Pope's second-half goal earned Bury a 1-1 draw against Oldham, who had taken the lead through Lee Croft, while Bradford won for the first time this season, 1-0 against Port Vale thanks to Devante Cole's debut finish four minutes into stoppage time.
