FL72 Weekly: Burnley striker Sam Vokes relishing Premier League challenge

Burnley's Sam Vokes says his partnership with Danny Ings can succeed in the Premier League, with the pair looking to prove the doubters wrong.

Burnley secured promotion back to the Premier League after a four-year absence at the weekend with victory over Wigan, and Vokes is relishing the prospect of playing at the highest level.

The former Wolves hitman told Sky Sports News Radio's FL72 Weekly show: "I wasn't involved on the pitch on Saturday, but just to be involved in the celebrations was a great day."

"It was very nerve-racking as we knew we needed the points to secure promotion but we got there and it was a good feeling."

"It has been a great season for the two of us (Vokes and Ings).

"We are not selfish and work hard for each other.

"We can do it in the Premier League. We know what it is like up there, and what we have done this season will stand us in good stead.

"We want to prove everyone wrong, as we will be written off, but when we come into pre-season we will be focused ahead of the new season."
