Transfer news: Burnley sign Michael Keane on loan from Manchester United

Burnley have signed England U21 international central defender Michael Keane from Manchester United on loan, subject to Premier League approval.

The 21-year-old joined the Clarets late on Monday evening, just as the transfer window slammed shut, on a deal which runs until January.

Keane made his debut for United in a League Cup tie against Aldershot Town in 2011.

He has since featured in a further three League Cup games – including the 4-0 defeat at MK Dons last week after making his Premier League debut as a first-half substitute in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland on August 24.

Keane, who has played 12 times for the England U21 side, also has experience of the Sky Bet Championship after loan spells with both Derby County and Blackburn Rovers last season.
