Sky Bet Championship: Knee injury sidelines Derby striker Mason Bennett

Derby striker Mason Bennett could be out for up to two months after suffering a knee injury.

Bennett was carried off on a stretcher during the latter stages of a Under-21 game against West Brom last week.

The 18-year-old, whose goal in that match gave the Rams a 1-0 win, saw a specialist on Monday and scans have shown that he has sustained lateral ligament damage - the recovery time for which is between six and eight weeks.

"Mason has been down to London to see a specialist. He has some damage to the lateral ligaments and tendons on his knee from the impact of the injury," Derby first-team coach Paul Simpson told the club's official website.

"We are looking at six to eight weeks with Mason being out, which is a real blow for him. He's come back from his loan with Bradford and he's looked lively, he looks as if he is relaxing a little bit more and enjoying his football again.

"Hopefully he will benefit from having a little break out, get himself refocused again in that period of rehab and be ready to come back into it."
